Last week we had a group of students competing in the AIMS Games held in Tauranga and all of our athletes performed extremely well and made us so very proud!!

In the basketball, our girls’ team came 18th out of 27 teams competing!  This was the first year that Wairau Intermediate had a team representing the school in basketball and their efforts were superb.  Below is a photo of the girls.  They are:  Back row (left to right): Elin Vincent, Sienna Thompson, Jessica du Buisson, Isla Koko, Katie Pahi.  Front row (left to right): Aroha Tonu’u, Abigail Tau-Harris, Jisu Kim.  A huge thank you to Janet Vincent for her coaching and organisation of the team to get them this far.

Nicole Choi represented the school in the women’s golf and won GOLD!  Wow, what an achievement!  We are very proud of Nicole and her success both in the AIMS Games, and also in the many tournaments she attends. Below is a photo of Nicole wearing her medal and holding her cup.

All our students showed wonderful sportsmanship at the games and found the experience incredibly rewarding, and one to remember for a long time to come.
