ENROLMENTS 2024

Enrolling at Wairau is an easy process.  It is very important to enrol your child well in advance of the school year, to help with successful class placements and school organisation. All enrolment applications (both In Zone and Out of Zone) should be received by the beginning of Term 4, Friday 13 October. 

Wairau Intermediate has a school school zone. Although in zone enrolments are given first priority, we are in a position to accept out of zone enrolment applications for 2023.  For all enrolments  we require proof of address (i.e. a power bill or bank statement) and a sighted copy of a passport or birth certificate.  Scanned copies of these documents can be accepted at this time and should be emailed with the enrolment form to our school secretary: margaretl@wairau.school.nz

For children who were not born in New Zealand and do not have a New Zealand passport, we will require one of the following:

• student’s residence permit or returning residence visa

• parent’s work permit and student’s permit/visa

• student’s New Zealand citizenship certificate

Open Days / Evening

Parents / caregivers are invited to come along to visit our school on our Open Days being held on Tuesday 1 August and Wednesday 2 August  between the hours of 9.00am and 3.00pm.  During this time parents/caregivers can observe a vibrant, interactive snapshot of the school in action.  Throughout the day, during school hours, individual/group tours of the school will be conducted by the Principal and Deputy Principal, and no appointment will be necessary.

 An Open Evening will be held on Wednesday 2 August from 7.00pm-8.30pm commencing in the school hall.  Teachers and current pupils will be on hand to explain how the school functions and to show you around.

Year 6 Transition Days

Year 6 students from our main contributing schools have been invited to visit our school on the following days:

• Wednesday 19 July,  Sunnynook School

• Tuesday 25 July, Forrest Hill School

• Wednesday 26 July, Target Road School

Students will be given a copy of our prospectus and enrolment pack on the day of their visit.

If your child does not attend one of our main contributing schools and you would like them to have the opportunity of spending a whole day at Wairau Intermediate experiencing some of the subjects they will be studying in 2024, they would be most welcome to come along and join in on:

Enrolment Interviews

Enrolment interviews, with either the Principal or Deputy Principal will be held on the following dates between 9.00am and 4.30pm.

• Tuesday 8 August

• Wednesday 9 August

• Thursday 10 August

• Tuesday 15 August

• Wednesday 16 August

• Thursday 17 August
